There is nothing like a celebratory beer to cap off a great ride! Do you like to reach for a cold brew after a long, hard bicycle ride? How about adding a brewery jersey to your cycling wardrobe?
One of our favorite brewery bicycle jerseys is the Coors Light Summit jersey by Primal Wear. It features a performance sport cut fit, which is designed for optimum performance and fits close to the body. In addition it features 3 rear pockets for storing riding essentials, raglan sleeves and 3/4 length front invisible zipper for ventilation. It is made with Speed-Pro Technical Fabric. The moisture wicking fabric keeps you dry, and the graphic reminds you how to hydrate!
The Arrogant Bastard Ale cycling jersey is also a very popular jersey. Check out all of our brewery jerseys to find your favorite!
If you like to add a little personality to your bike a Krieg bag may be just the thing. Krieg makes bicycle bags that aren’t your run-of the-mill typical bike bag that you see in every shop. The cycling bags come in a variety of unique colors and patterns. There is a wide range from Pink Animal Print to Silver Houndstooth. If you are into the popular animal prints you may like the Giraffe print or the Zebra print in the traditional black and white or black and pink to jazz things up a bit. For those of you that prefer something more traditional, like black, white or red, Krieg provides those options too. Krieg aims to make bags for every personality. So strap a bag with a little personality to your bicycle and hit the road!
Anyone who cycles much knows showers are a part of spring time riding. They also know that the summers aren’t totally dry, so having a lightweight, breathable, water resistant jacket as a part of your bicycle gear
is always wise. Compact-ability is another feature to consider…hopefully the jacket will be stuffed in your jersey pocket most of the time. Opt for something that is lightweight and packs down small for stowage. As an added plus, many cycling jackets come in bright colors with reflective trim that make you visible to motorists.
You can beat the ho-hum winter blues with an adrenaline-pumping indoor cycling class at a local athletic club or spinning studio. Indoor cycling is a great aerobic workout and a great form of training. As an added plus, indoor cycling burns an average of 500-700 calories per hour. Unlike a generic exercise bike workout, a spin class features a fun, lively atmosphere and motivational support.
If you are a beginner, a towel and water bottle are a must. You will sweat a lot! A towel is essential to dry your face, hands and handlebars during your workout. As for apparel, you will need moisture-wicking shorts, a moisture-wicking top, and running shoes. Once you fall in love with indoor cycling, investing in cycling shoes that clip in to the bike’s pedals will add a new dimension to your rides. Also, padded cycling shorts will increase your comfort.
The Terry Zephyr Women’s Activewear Tank is a great piece to add to your cycling apparelwardrobe. It is highly recommended for athletes who perform at a high aerobic level. It features moisture-wicking fabric and the great neckline construction maximizes the shoulders and minimizes friction while mesh panels add flair and breathability.
Happy spinning!
Often the biggest obstacle to over-come in cold-weather riding is the mental one. When you are warm and cozy inside your house there is not much appeal in thinking about putting on all the gear and facing the cold, wind, rain or snow. It is easy to rationalize why you would rather skip the ride and stay inside and sip coffee. Undeniably, the first few minutes of a winter ride are uncomfortable, but you know when it is all said and done you’ll be happier if you ride no matter what the weather. The more you ride during the winter, the easier it is to get motivated to ride.
Your comfort level is critical so that you stay on your bike and enjoy the ride. The right cold weather gear can make that happen. Depending on the temperature and weather conditions, here are several options to consider:
Toes & Feet – socks, shoes, shoe covers, riding boots
Legs – knickers, knee warmers, leg warmers, tights, riding specific pants
Torso – base layer, arm warmers, long sleeve jersey, fleece vest, cycling shell
Face – face mask
Shake off winter blahs with colorful cycling apparel
that will rev you up every day. The Killer Yellow color is energizing. Not only will you be energized but you’ll be highly visible to motorists driving 5,000 lb. SUV’s. The more visible you are to cars and trucks, the better. A win, win for all!
Suggested Winter Cycling Apparel – A layered approach
- Short Sleeve Jersey
- Arm Warmers
- Base Layer shirt
- Wind Vest
- Light weight jacket
- Regular Cycling Shorts
- Leg Warmers
- Socks
- Warm full fingered gloves
- Skull Cap and/or Balaklava
- Shoe Covers
- And of course you will need your helmet, shoes and glasses.
Wearing the above items keeps me warm to a temperature of about 35 degrees. As the day warms or cools, the layers can be added or removed to keep you at a comfortable temperature.
How do you dress for cold weather riding? There are some great heavy cycling jackets available, made from the latest techno fabrics that will keep you quite warm while riding in cold weather. There are also thermal cycling tights available to keep you warm from the waist down. Both of these items work well for warmth but I prefer to go a slightly different route. I prefer to layer my cycling clothing for several reasons.
- If the day warms or cools while riding it is easier to remove or add layers to stay at a comfortable temperature.
- Many of the thermal cycling tights are designed to (no built in chamois) fit over your regular cycling shorts. I find that the extra material often causes my saddle to fit differently thus becoming uncomfortable. The tights with a built in chamois can be quite expensive and there are fewer to choose from.
- Layering is less expensive and many of the items can be used throughout the year.
